New York City

It really was quite easy to talk Mom into letting me go. I think she wanted me to see the big city. I had to agree to spend the day in her big green backpack, the one with the padded shoulder straps. I had to promise not to fuss about getting out. I could only get out for meals and potty stops.

Here I am on a big bench in the train station while Mom went to get our tickets. Turned out, they didn't even charge for me. They seemed to think I was just a regular stuffed animal.

Then we went up on the platform to wait for the train. It was really cold and windy, so we waited in a little glass room. We were sheltered from the wind in there. There weren't any seats, but since I'm so little I could sit on the ledge and look all the way down the track.

When it was almost time to get off the train, Mom helped me into the backpack. It's comfortable enough and I didn't have to walk. We went over a couple of blocks and arrived at 5th Ave. I could see everything just fine and I was kind of glad to be on Mom's back. It was very cold and windy. Mom stopped at one of the street vendors and bought a pair of gloves for herself and a pair of mittens for me. We were much more comfortable then.

We went directly to Rockefeller Center to see the big Christmas tree. Wow, is it ever big and so pretty!

Here's a closer shot of the tree with the angels in the plaza in front. The tree lights were on but they don't show up too well in bright daylight.

If you get further away, the tree almost gets lost in the concrete jungle.

This is the window of a little candy store in the plaza by the tree. Everything is so pretty but very, very expensive.
